| LAUCALA ISLAND | |

Arriving on Laucala is almost like entering Paul Gauguins painting "Garden of Eden". Ones imagination of the South Pacific - serene beaches, turquoise water, waves crashing, lush tropical vegetation, spectacular cliff top views - some people would describe it as paradise. This awaits you at Laucala.
Nature is just a fraction of Laucala island's beauty. It is rich in culture and diversity.
Laucala is a little different to what you might expect of a resort. Our integral philosophy encompasses the whole island, growing our own livestock and vegetables, caring for our own poultry and hand making all our own guest products, using the islands natural resources. We have tried to preserve the integrity and history of Laucala in this way.
Our residences have been specifically designed with your privacy in mind, each one exclusive and individual, with the interior designs hand chosen to suit each residence location. Take a journey and see for yourself the diverse variety of scenery on the island, ranging from rainforest to surrounding views, plantation to beach settings.
Our broad range of activities will fulfill your every wish and whim. Ranging from trail riding to game fishing, golf to tennis, or yoga to beach combing whether you want to catch that dream fish or just find your inner peace - you can at Laucala.

Mr. John Rosa was the owner of Laucala, which had been in his possession since 1869. The island contained over 3000 acres, 600 of which are under cultivation of coconuts. Cattle, pigs and poultry were also reared on the island. Mr. Rosa was born on May 24th 1861 and was educated at Camden College, New South Wales. On leaving college he came straight to his father's plantation, and remained on island until his passing. He is buried with family on Laucala. Laucala's aim is to restore the plantation and farm to its former glory.
In 2003 Dietrich Mateschitz, head of the Red Bull energy drink company, acquired the island. Mr. Mateschitz has since restored and renovated the island upgrading the residences to a new level of luxury, using integrated eco friendly building architecture and unique structures. His passion towards the islands beauty and nature, created a vision of a special place in this world, which is soon to be revived.

The architectural design of Laucala Island Resort requests a seamless transition between built areas and the untouched beauty of the island. FARM AGRICULTURE
The main emphasis of the resort's infrastructure is the farm. Not only to re-establish the old
"Rose" Plantation but to re-introduce original crops and plants such as coffee, cocoa, vanilla,
pepper, teas, tropical fruits and more. The breeding stock of cattle is already established on
Laucala. It is envisaged that we will house cows, pigs, goats, venison and poultry.
Ducks, chickens, quail, pigeons, guinea fowls, all for self sufficiency of the resort - projected
numbers of animals is approx 1500. Long Beach has been identified as the location for the farm
development complex at a size of 240 acres farmland.
The goal is for the resort to be self sustainable within two years up to 85 percent.

BEES & HONEY
Coconut plantations are an ideal environment for bees as they flower all year round and coupled
with very consistent climatic conditions our hives will be in continuous production.
Coconut plantations can carry two to three hives per hectare and the coconuts set more fruit
as a result of the increased pollination. Frames of honey can be used in the restaurant for buffet
displays and shaped frames that produce small round honey combs for individual servings.
The wax is edible and can be used as an ingredient for spa products and of course for candle
making. Exotic products such as 'royal honey' can be produced and any excess honey can be used
as a soap making additive or in foods like honey mead.
