Day 1 - Arrive Christchurch
Welcome to Christchurch. Perhaps visit the International Antarctic Centre – a ‘must see’ attraction located right next to the International Airport.
Day 2 - Christchurch/ Aoraki - Mount Cook/ Queenstown
(369 miles/594 kms) (optional meal plans begin today) Today travel south via the Mackenzie country and Lake Tekapo to Aoraki-Mount Cook National Park. We suggest a scenic flight over some of the finest alpine scenery in New Zealand. Continue on to Queenstown.
Day 3 - Milford Sound Day Excursion
Travel by coach along the shores of Lake Wakatipu to Te Anau, gateway to the Fiordland National Park. From the Homer Tunnel emerge into the Cleddau Valley. Join your Milford Sound Red Boat Cruise to explore this majestic fi ord. Return to Queenstown.
Day 4 - Queenstown
A free day to enjoy the many leisure pursuits on offer. Staff at ‘The Station Information Center’ can assist with reservations.
Day 5 - Queenstown/ Franz Josef
(249 miles/400 kms) Travel to Greymouth and board the scenic TranzAlpine train (Seat-in- Coach only) for a journey famous for its spectacular mountain scenery. Arrive Christchurch early evening.
Day 6 - Franz Josef/ Tranzalpine Train/ Christchurch
(249 miles) Travel to Greymouth and board the scenic TranzAlpine train (Seat-in-Coach only). The journey is famous for its spectacular mountain scenery as it traverses the Southern Alps and across to Christchurch.
Day 7 - Christchurch/ Rotorua (flight not included)
Fly to Rotorua, New Zealand’s thermal wonderland. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. We suggest an optional visit to the Polynesian Spa.
Day 8 - Rotorua Sightseeing (dinner included)
Experience Rotorua’s many varied sights. Visit Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve. Learn about Maori crafts at Te Puia, before traveling to Rainbow Springs and Agrodome Farm Show. Afternoon at leisure. This evening enjoy a Maori Hangi (feast) and Concert.
Day 9 - Rotorua/ Waitomo/Auckland
(226 miles/363 kms) (lunch included) Travel to Waitomo Caves for lunch and a guided tour of the Glowworm Grotto before continuing on to Auckland.
Day 10 - Or Code RC18R/RS18R
This tour can be taken in a reverse direction, starting from Auckland and concluding in Christchurch.
